Project Details

Description

This project is funded by EIRA project and aims to analyze EAS biomass utilization from the whole supply chain of biomass resources to generate energy and other biomaterials, which may impact some economic sectors, particularly land usage for food and water resources. These additional demands for biomass could encourage competitive procurement of the resources raising the material’s price to increase higher than the current market price. These could either be a benefit or a drawback in the local economy. Thus, lessening the impacts of biomass production by assessing the three pillars of sustainability—social, environmental, and economic—structured in the society is important as this might also serve as the bases for future scenario evaluations of each target study country while taking into consideration the concepts of absolute sustainability and nature-based solution approaches and pathways that may be deemed helpful in designing the policies for the policymakers.
