Abstract

Over current fault at the substation must have a protection system that can avoid hazards causing damage to equipment and human safety in that area. Grounding systems installed in the substation area must cope those hazards in line with IEEE 80-2000 guidelines. To fulfil the guidelines, the resistance value of grounding system of 150 kV substation must have value below 1 Ω. The purpose of this research is to analyze the design of ground system at 150 kV substation in accordance with the rules specified in the design creation. Voltage gradients should not exceed limits that can endanger human body. This research used square and rectangular grid design. Calculation of voltage gradient tolerance limits, grounding system resistance values, and Ground Potential Rise are carried out to determine the reliability of ground systems on Kudus 150 kV substation.
